Welcome to the Management Information Systems
(MIS) Division of the Sauder School of Business,
the University of British Columbia. MIS is the
study of the design, implementation, management
and use of information technology applications
in organizations. The Sauder MIS Division is recognized
as one of the world's leading MIS programs for
research productivity. Our research spans a wide
variety of topics ranging from the technical,
economic and behavioral aspects of MIS to conceptual
modeling and systems design. The MIS faculty is
supported by an active doctoral
program whose graduates have gone on to some
of the world’s top universities. We also
offer a research-focused masters
program as well as support an MIS major for
the Sauder undergraduate
business program.

Andrew Burton-Jones, together with his co-author Michael Gallivan of
Georgia State University, wins the "MIS Quarterly 2007 Best Paper
Award" for their paper entitled: "Toward a Deeper Understanding of
System Usage in Organizations: A Multilevel Perspective," published
in Volume 31, No. 4, pp. 657-679.

Izak Benbasat received the prestigious Leo Award for Lifetime
Exceptional Achievements in Information Systems from the Association
for Information Systems (the major scholarly society in information
systems) in December 2007.
August 2007
Izak Benbasat was ranked as the most influential MIS researcher in
the world in terms of publications cited by others (Lowry et al,
Communications of the Association for Information Systems Volume 20, 2007).
January 2007
As of 10 January 2007, the University of British Columbia curriculum as
submitted to ISACA was found to be in alignment with the ISACA© Model
Curriculum. Graduates of this program qualify for one year work experience
toward the Certified Information Systems Auditor™ (CISA©) designation.

The MIS group at UBC was tied with the University of Maryland as the most
prolific institution in the world in terms of Human-Computer Interaction
Research in MIS based on the papers authored or co-authored by members of
different universities. Izak Benbasat
was ranked as the most prolific author
