Cut and Paste

In order to submit some assignments for this course it may be beneficial that you learn how to capture a Windows screen and how to paste the picture in a Word document.

Sometimes in the assignments you will be asked to create a screen shot of what you have done in the assignment. The screen shot or screen capture simply is a picture that contains everything that can be seen on the screen right in the moment you hit a certain key on the keyboard and that can be pasted into virtually every Windows application that knows how to deal with pictures.

So if you are asked to make a screen shot of a MS Access form you have created or the design view of a query you have designed, make sure that your application is in the foreground and no other window is blocking the screen. Hit the print key which is in the upper right part of the keyboard next to the scroll and pause key. The screen shot should be now in the Windows clipboard.

Open MS Word or Excel or wherever you want to insert the picture in. Position the cursor at the point where you want to insert the picture and goto the EDIT-menu, menuitem PASTE. It might take some seconds before you see the result on the screen depending on the speed of the computer you are using. Alternatively instead of using the menu, you may also insert the picture by pressing CTRL + V (the Control key and the V key) at the same time.
